Ethanolic and aqueous extracts of the leaves and flowers of Alstonia scholaris were evaluated for their antioxidant activity by investigating their effect on blood glutathione levels in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. The ethanolic extract of the leaves was the most active; therefore, its cytotoxicity against HepG2 cells was also tested. Promising GI?? values of 1.96, 4.34 and 4.65?μg?mL?1 were observed for the extract, its chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions, respectively. The chloroform active subfraction I (GI???=?2.97?μg?mL?1) yielded betulin (1), betulinic acid (2) and ursolic acid (3) upon purification. Compounds 1-3 were identified using spectroscopic techniques and by comparison with reported data. GLC of unsaponifiable and saponifiable fractions of the hexane extract revealed β-sitosterol (7.37%) and n-tetracosane (54.4%) to be the major sterol and hydrocarbon components, respectively. Linoleic acid (48.89%) was the predominant fatty acid. 相似文献

Soil potassium (K) supplement depends intensively on the application of chemical fertilizers, which have substantial harmful environmental effects. However, some bacteria can act as inoculants by converting unavailable and insoluble K forms into plant-accessible forms. Such bacteria are an eco-friendly approach for enhancing plant K absorption and consequently reducing utilization of chemical fertilization. Therefore, the present research was undertaken to isolate, screen, and characterize the K solubilizing bacteria (KSB) from the rhizosphere soils of northern India. Overall, 110 strains were isolated, but only 13 isolates showed significant K solubilizing ability by forming a halo zone on solid media. They were further screened for K solubilizing activity at 0 °C, 1 °C, 3 °C, 5 °C, 7 °C, 15 °C, and 20 °C for 5, 10, and 20 days. All the bacterial isolates showed mineral K solubilization activity at these different temperatures. However, the content of K solubilization increased with the upsurge in temperature and period of incubation. The isolate KSB (Grz) showed the highest K solubilization index of 462.28% after 48 h of incubation at 20 °C. The maximum of 23.38 µg K/mL broth was solubilized by the isolate KSB (Grz) at 20 °C after 20 days of incubation. Based on morphological, biochemical, and molecular characterization (through the 16S rDNA approach), the isolate KSB (Grz) was identified as Mesorhizobium sp. The majority of the strains produced HCN and ammonia. The maximum indole acetic acid (IAA) (31.54 µM/mL) and cellulase (390 µM/mL) were produced by the isolate KSB (Grz). In contrast, the highest protease (525.12 µM/mL) and chitinase (5.20 µM/mL) activities were shown by standard strain Bacillus mucilaginosus and KSB (Gmr) isolate, respectively. 相似文献

This communication is focused on the controlled design of star‐shaped aromatic ethers with pendent cyclopentadienyliron moieties. A trimetallic core was prepared, which was then reacted with a number of oligomeric ether complexes to give star‐shaped polymers with six, nine, twelve and fifteen pendent cationic cyclopentadienyliron moieties. Cyclic voltammetric studies showed reduction of the iron centers between –0.99 and –1.41 V. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that loss of the metallic moieties occurred between 225 and 284°C. 相似文献

The strategic idea in this work was to increase pH values by employing natural alkali sources (i.e., HCO3− and CO32−) from four tested agro-ashes as an alternative to chemicals (i.e., lime or soda ash). The considerable proportion of carbonates and bicarbonates in the investigated ash products had remarkable features, making them viable resources. All ash materials showed a significant ability for Ca ion elimination at high initial Ca ion concentrations. A slight quantity of ash (10 g/L) was sufficient for usage on very hard water contents up to 3000 ppm. Finally, the tested agro-ash was free of cost. Furthermore, unlike other conventional precipitants, such as NaOH, Ca(OH)2, NaHCO3, Na2CO3, and CaO, they are cost effective and ecologically sustainable. There is no need to employ any additional chemicals or modify the agro-ash materials throughout the treatment process. The benefits of the manufactured ash were assessed using a SWOT analysis. 相似文献

A mild and versatile method based on Cu-catalyzed [2+3] cycloaddition (Huisgen-Meldal-Sharpless reaction) was developed to tether 3,3’-((4-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)phenyl)methylene)bis(4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones) with 4-azido-2-quinolones in good yields. This methodology allowed attaching three quinolone molecules via a triazole linker with the proposed mechanism. The products are interesting precursors for their anti-proliferative activity. Compound 8g was the most active one, achieving IC50 = 1.2 ± 0.2 µM and 1.4 ± 0.2 µM against MCF-7 and Panc-1 cell lines, respectively. Moreover, cell cycle analysis of cells MCF-7 treated with 8g showed cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase (supported by Caspase-3,8,9, Cytochrome C, BAX, and Bcl-2 studies). that the prepared samples in bulk or as-deposited thin-film forms were in an amorphous state. On annealing at 573 K, films
have a β-phase polycrystalline structure. Transmittance and reflectance measurements in the spectral range of 400–2500 nm
for films deposited onto quartz substrates were used to calculate the optical constants (the refractive index n, the absorption
index k and the absorption coefficient α) for In2Te3 films, either as-deposited or annealed at different temperatures. The refractive index has anomalous behavior in the region
of the fundamental absorption edge. The allowed optical transitions were found to be nondirect transitions, with an optical
gap of 1.02 eV for the samples under test. The effect of annealing on the optical gap is interpreted in terms of the density
of states proposed by Mott and Davis.

This paper presents a stationary wavelet transform (SWT) method for speckle noise reduction in digital speckle pattern interferometry fringes. The main advantage of SWT is its translation invariance, which makes it important in statistical image processing applications. This method was used to denoise a simulated speckle fringe patterns, a good fidelity value was obtained. The thermal stability, kinetics of crystallization, and glass forming ability of a Ti48Ni32Cu8Si8Sn4 bulk amorphous alloy have been studied by differential scanning calorimetry using both isothermal and non-isothermal experiments. The activation energy, frequency factor, and reaction rate for the crystallization cascade were determined via the Kissinger method. X-ray diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy studies revealed that crystallization starts with the primary precipitation of Ti(Ni,Cu), followed by the nucleation of Cu3Ti from the amorphous precursor. The kinetics of nucleation of the primary crystalline phase was also investigated using the Johnson–Mehl-Avrami method and the Avrami exponent, n, was determined. This new alloy possesses a significantly larger supercooled liquid region than any other non beryllium- or non rare earth – containing titanium-based bulk metallic glass to date. 相似文献
